I like ghost stories. So sue me. These days, all it takes to make an effective ghost story is a digital video camera, a reasonably creepy setting, and a mildly talented cast. To be fair, you don’t really even need a complex story. Granted, having a story to tell – along with some visual trickery to keep the audience’s interest – will make for a more successful product. That said, APPARITION hits all of the marks to be a solid ghost story. It’s an old school chiller, meaning it doesn’t rely on flashy post production trickery to scare the pants off you. Instead, it sticks to the tried-and-true formula, and there’s nothing wrong with that.
From the promotional materials: “When his beautiful fiancée, Lori (Katrina Law), is killed in a car accident, Doug (Jody Quigley) retreats in solitude to the isolated farmhouse that should have been his new family s home. As he grieves and further isolates himself from his friends and society, he learns that he is not alone in this quaint home. Plagued with grief and tragic memories, supernatural events leave Doug fearing for his sanity until he’s able to find solace and a brief respite in the company of his new neighbor Jamie (Lili Bordán).

This was an interesting, engaging movie. It has scary moments, for sure, but is really more of a surreal study on grief. While the acting is a bit soap opera stilted, the main characters were interesting enough to draw me in. The movie fooled me as it seemed to be going in one direction only to go in a completely opposite direction. I thought it was well filmed. The script could have used some punching up as at times things felt flat. For a b-movie horror film, this was far better than many I’ve seen. I enjoyed it, so I recommend it.

This one sneaks up on you. Just when you think you know where it’s going, it takes a surprising turn that really draws you in. As stated by others, it’s a psychological thriller, with enough horror elements to keep it creepy. One doesn’t know where reality lies, even at the end of the movie, which is very interesting. I don’t usually choose the horror genre, but watched it with my husband and was really hooked a few minutes in. The acting was also a cut above, especially by Jody Quigley, who gives a multi-layered, well-crafted performance.

One of the best budget horror films I have seen lately …..dont see how this film could get bad reviews.

This is an action packed book in every sense of the word. To me, the best, most interesting passages take place in Africa; details flow, that intrigued me, making me want to read more. I wondered how anyone could casually walk through a field in Africa and not get eaten by a lion, or walk through a tunnel of vines knowing a poisonous snake was waiting to attack? Thrown in the midst of the the Bush War in Rhodesia, the hero, a Vietnam vet, once again finds himself the target of enemy fire. But this book is not just about war, it is about the triumph of love, spanning two African countries, two continents and two races. A great book, the dialogue is solid, and real. Read it. You’ll enjoy it.

I thought i’d give this one a try and I was not disappointed. Very good psychological flick although I thought it was just another horror film. Well worth watching. If it was described as a psychological horror I would have watched it a lot sooner, but maybe that was the surprise that kept us interested.
Much more than I expected By Jeanne Rusciano on May 19, 2015 Format: Amazon Instant Video Verified Purchase
Good acting – you can feel the three main characters’ anguish. It’s rare for an horror films these days to capture emotions effectively. I would definitely recommend it – plenty of creepy moments throughout and a story that keeps you engaged.
Gripping Ghost Story By Redsoxfanman827 on May 5, 2015 Format: DVD
As suggested by others, this film is more suspense than horror. It is well crafted and quite engaging. It builds very subtly, in fact so subtly, that it catches you by surprise. The acting was surprisingly good, especially Jody Quigley who brought great complexity to his role. The movie was much better than I expected.

Most love triangle movies are boring – but it adds a nice twist when one of the lovers is dead! The film is very creepy, and the film works on multiple levels as both a scary ghost story, and a metaphor for how it’s hard to leave your regrets behind. A very well made psycho horror flick.
Great Ghost Story! by BadBoy514
I was totally engrossed with this film right from the beginning. What hit me the hardest was seeing this couple so in love and then completely and tragically destroyed because of one angry moment. And in my opinion what finally takes him over the edge is the gift he finds later that she had left for him. So sad, but a very good film. I would definitely give this a rent, Imo opinion its well worth the $5.00 to see it!!
